Big Idea:
Reach for
the stars
Scenic Spatial Design | Experiential Narrative
Inspired by Kanye West’s “Stars,” Aja Monet’s “for the kids,” and the writings of Ben Okri.
Ann Library is a narrative environment created in memory of my late mother. Designed as both a library and a planetarium, the piece explores the intersection of knowledge and wonder, translating architecture into a cinematic world that blurs the line between the earthly and the celestial.
Set in Fort Reno Park, Washington, D.C., the structure functions as a visual metaphor for aspiration—a space where children are invited to “reach for the stars.” The design is inspired by the crystalline geometry of a geode, creating an interior that glows with discovery and reflection.
Ann Library uses form, light, and material to tell a story of loss, legacy, and imagination. Every texture, shadow, and spatial rhythm contributes to a sense of awe and intimacy—inviting the audience to experience learning as both a sacred and cosmic act.
